Doyle Street Off-Leash Dog Park

The Doyle Street Off-Leash Dog Park is one of just two off-leash dog parks run by Mareeba Shire Council, which makes it the default meet-up point for dogs across the Atherton Tablelands town. It sits on Doyle Street, across from the back entrance of Davies Park, and the council keeps it open around the clock: access is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

What's in the park

This is a fully fenced park, so nervous dogs and eager greeters can both be let off the lead without the usual gate anxiety. Shade trees break up the enclosure, there is bench seating for the human half, and water fountains cater for both people and dogs, which is no small thing on Tableland afternoons that run hotter than the coast. A bin and dog litter bags are provided, though carrying a spare bag is still sensible because council supplies are not always stocked.

The rules are the standard ones done properly. Dogs must be leashed when entering and leaving the park, since the excitement of a gate is exactly when dogs bolt, and owners must clean up after their animals and fill in any holes they dig. Doyle Street is on the town side of Mareeba, easy to reach from the main streets with parking along the reserve.
