Kirwan Dog Park

Kirwan Dog Park is a fully fenced off-leash area at 1 Lappin Place, tucked just off Bamford Lane and open 24 hours, a separate park from Mountview Park Fenced Dog Park a short walk away on the same street.

The rules. Dogs need to be leashed before entering and after leaving, and kept under effective voice control once off-leash inside. Fill in any holes your dog digs, clean up after them using the bins provided, and pull your dog out immediately if it becomes aggressive or disruptive. Registration is required, and don't bring more dogs than you can comfortably supervise.

What's there. The park is fully fenced with shaded, undercover seating for owners, a set of dog agility obstacles, water taps and waste bags on site. Parking is available but limited, and it can fill up during busy periods.

Getting there. The address is 1 Lappin Place, Kirwan, accessed off Bamford Lane, with local bus services running nearby. Note the park sits close to a sewerage facility, which can produce an odour on some days.

Nearby with the dogs. Coffee at Jude's in Parkside Plaza is a few minutes' drive away for a coffee stop with your dog on the outdoor seating.

Weekend mornings are the busiest stretch, with Thursday mornings and Sunday afternoons also popular. Weekday afternoons and Friday evenings are quieter. The ground can turn muddy after heavy rain, so pack wipes if you're visiting after a downpour.
