Fabian Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Fabian Reserve is a small dog off-leash area at the end of a quiet Keysborough cul-de-sac, just off the Dandenong Bypass near Chapel Road. It is a neighbourhood option rather than a destination park: a rectangular grassed area dotted with trees where local dogs get a quick off-lead run, with the big fenced parks of the area a few minutes away when you need more.

The dog setup

Under Greater Dandenong City Council rules, dogs may be off-leash in the designated area but must stay within about 50 metres of you and under control by voice or hand signal. On-leash applies everywhere outside the sign-posted zone, and dogs must stay 20 metres clear of playgrounds and cycling paths unless a 1.2-metre fence separates them. If club or school sport is on in the reserve, dogs go on-leash throughout. Carry waste bags, use the bin provided, and have your dog wearing its council registration tag.

Worth knowing

Facilities are basic: a waste bin at the northern end, some unshaded owner seating and patchy tree shade for the dog. Water is reported inconsistently across listings, so bring your own bowl and supply rather than counting on a tap. After heavy rain, check the ground condition before committing a session to it. Sunday afternoons and weekday off-peaks are the quiet windows.

The reserve is at 16 Fabian Court, Keysborough, reached through residential streets off the Dandenong Bypass and Chapel Road. Parking is on-street, and the nearest bus stops sit on Chandler Road, a 10 to 15 minute walk away.

Close by with the dogs
