Kinlyside Avenue Fenced Dog Park

Kinlyside Avenue Fenced Dog Park is a fully enclosed, 24-hour off-leash run in a drainage reserve off Kinlyside Avenue in Jerrabomberra, just over the NSW border from Canberra and a short hop off the Monaro Highway. It is a long, narrow corridor rather than a garden-style park, and that shape is the whole point: a straight run built for fetch, with the fence doing the work of keeping dogs off the road.

The dog setup

Inside the fence line, dogs run off-leash under effective voice or hand control. Outside it, on the surrounding grassland, footpaths and street verges, the lead goes back on. The full perimeter fencing is the reason to come, and the enclosure sits opposite Darmody Place. Owners clean up after their dogs, and while waste disposal is expected, provisions here are basic, so carry your own bags.

Amenities are sparse by design: there is basic seating for owners but no water taps on site, so bring your own water and a travel bowl. Shade is limited too, which matters on hot Jerrabomberra afternoons.

Pepsi: no water on site is the detail that catches people out. Pack a bottle and a bowl before you leave, especially in summer.

The vibe

The corridor shape makes this a poor fit for large, boisterous group meetups because there is not much room to create distance if play gets tense. Early mornings and the late-afternoon window from about 4:30 to 6pm draw the most dogs; a mid-morning or early-afternoon visit is the easier option for dogs that need space, and Queanbeyan West's dog park is the fallback when Kinlyside feels busy.

Getting there and parking

The park is off Kinlyside Avenue, Jerrabomberra NSW 2619, reached via the Jerrabomberra Parkway exit from the Monaro Highway. Street parking along Kinlyside Avenue is straightforward. QCity Transit services the broader area but public transport into this pocket is limited, so driving is the practical option.

Close by with the dogs

Suppeto Collective is the closest local coffee stop in Jerrabomberra, and a short drive into Queanbeyan brings you to Thirty 4 Cafe and Restaurant. For an entirely different outing, The Scar at Karabar is the big adventure park of the region, better suited to active dogs and their humans.
