The Scar

The Scar on Southbar Road in Karabar is a fully fenced off-lead dog park paired with the region's first purpose-built public jump and pump track, and it serves as the main dog exercise spot for the Queanbeyan side of the border. It is open around the clock.

The dog setup

Two separate fenced enclosures split the park into small dog and large dog sections, each entered through double gates. Inside you get agility obstacles, water on tap including a recessed water play area for hot months, waste bags, bins and shaded seating and picnic spots for owners.

Because the site is shared with bike riders, keep your dog inside the fenced zones while the pump track is in use. Re-clip the lead before you open the first gate so the gap between gates stays bolt-free territory.

Worth knowing

The big dog section gets boisterous in the late afternoons and on weekends, so timid dogs do better in the small enclosure or at a quieter hour. Weekday mornings are the calm window, and shade is thin out on the open ground, which matters most in summer.

Getting there and parking

The address is Lot 2 Southbar Road, Karabar NSW 2620, near the Henderson Road intersection and the Karabar shops. A generous car park sits right by the main recreation zones, and Queanbeyan bus routes pass close by.
