Lowe Square

Lowe Square is Howlong's main park on Hawkins Street, and Federation Council lists it among the town's off-leash areas, with the fenced dog park in the south west corner as the standout feature. The setup is unusually complete for a country town: seating, shade, a water tap, a doggy bag dispenser and bins all sit inside the fence, so you can turn up without hunting for supplies. For a Murray-border town that sees plenty of travelling dogs, that completeness is exactly why locals use it daily.

The enclosed dog park in the south west corner is the reliable option for unsocialised or recall-in-progress dogs, while the rest of the square runs as off-lead under Federation Council's listing, subject to effective control. Bag dispenser and bins inside the fence make waste an easy job, and the layout works for multi-dog households, since one dog can settle in the open part of the square while another plays inside the enclosure, and the water tap means summer visits work.
