Bentley Reserve

Bentley Reserve in Holden Hill has a fully fenced, dedicated dog park inside the wider reserve on Gentilly Street, one of the better-equipped off-leash spots in the City of Tea Tree Gully. It's split into separate areas for small and large dogs, with agility gear thrown in, which makes it a genuine drawcard rather than just a paddock with a fence around it.

The rules. Dogs can run off lead only inside the fenced dog park boundary. Once you're back out in the wider Bentley Reserve parkland, dogs need to be back on lead. Even off lead inside the fenced area, the City of Tea Tree Gully expects dogs under effective voice control and within sight of their owner, and asks owners to clean up after their dogs using the bins provided.

What's there. The park is fully enclosed, with separate small-dog and large-dog sections. Agility equipment includes jumps, a tunnel, a slide and logs to scramble over. There are dual-use drinking fountains for people and dogs, shaded seating for owners, and footpaths through the area. It backs onto the Holden Hill Community Centre.

Getting there. The dog park is at 23 Gentilly Street, Holden Hill, behind the community centre with straightforward street parking. Bus routes along North East Road and Sudholz Road run nearby if you're coming without a car. Gilles Plains and Valley View shopping areas are a short drive away.

Nearby with the dogs. There's no on-site cafe, but a couple of dog-friendly coffee stops sit close by in Holden Hill itself if you want to make a morning of it before or after a run around.

Weekday middays and early mornings are the quiet windows. Weekend mornings from around 8 to 11am and weekday evenings from 4.30 to 6.30pm draw the biggest crowds, so a weekday late afternoon is the best balance of company for your dog without it being packed.
