Ruthven Street North Reserve is Harlaxton's fenced off-leash area, listed here as Harlaxton Dog off-leash area, and it's the safer pick if your dog doesn't have rock-solid recall: two separate fenced enclosures let you keep dogs apart by size or temperament rather than one open field.

The rules. Dogs must stay on-leash in the car park and surrounding parkland; off-leash is only permitted inside the fenced zones. Owners need voice control over their dogs at all times, dogs must not menace other dogs or people, and waste must be picked up immediately and binned. Dogs should wear a collar and tag.

What's there. Secure perimeter fencing around two separate areas, a water tap with a dog bowl attachment, mature trees for shade, and benches for owners. It's generally reported as well-kept.

Getting there. The reserve is on Ruthven Street North in Harlaxton, with free off-street parking on-site and wheelchair-accessible entrance and parking. It's not on a high-frequency bus route, so driving is the practical option.

Early mornings from 6 to 8am and late afternoons from 4 to 6pm on weekdays are the busiest windows, with heavy use on weekends, so mid-morning or early afternoon on a weekday is the quieter bet.
