Lawford Reserve sits between Lawford Street and Rathmullen Quadrant in Doncaster, beside the Tullamore estate. It is a large, mostly flat community reserve that locals use for walking, jogging and a quick dog run.

The rules. Dogs are off-leash on the open grass under effective voice control, but must be on-lead within 15 metres of playgrounds, BBQs and picnic areas, and leashed if organised sport is on the oval. The reserve backs onto homes, so keep dogs from wandering into neighbouring yards. Carry bags and use the bins; confirm current lead zones against Manningham Council signage.

What is there. Paved circuit paths around the reserve, benches and picnic tables, a playground with climbing nets and a skate plaza, public toilets and BBQ shelters. A drinking fountain is usually available, but check it is working and bring your own water in summer.

Getting there. Lawford Street, Doncaster, with street parking along Lawford Street, Furlong Lane and nearby streets. It is very walkable from the Tullamore estate, and buses run on nearby Doncaster Road.

When to go. Weekday mid-mornings and early afternoons are quietest; early mornings, late afternoons and weekends are busiest with families using the playground and BBQs. Good for a steady local walk and run.
