Jabiru Park Dog Park

Jabiru Park Dog Park sits inside the larger Jabiru Park sports reserve in Condon, in Townsville's northern suburbs. The standout feature here is a dedicated, fully fenced off-leash zone with an agility course, which makes it a reliable spot for a run regardless of your dog's recall training.

The rules. Dogs can run off-leash freely inside the fenced enclosure. The moment you step outside those gates into the broader park, leads must go back on. Townsville City Council requires owners to maintain voice control and actively supervise their dogs at all times.

What's there. The fenced area includes a permanent agility and obstacle course. There are mature shade trees plus a purpose-built shade sail over the owner seating areas, so you can sit out of the sun while your dog plays. A water tap is available inside the fence for refilling bowls, and waste bins are provided to keep the space clean.

Getting there. You will find the park at 58 Gouldian Avenue, Condon. Street parking is available on either Gouldian Avenue or Jabiru Avenue, both of which run directly past the reserve boundaries.

Banjo: Bring your own water bowl. The tap inside the fence is great for refills, but a communal bowl is rarely left behind.

Watch-outs. This is an open-access park with no gates or lock-up times. Avoid visiting during the afternoon and early evening in the Townsville summer, as the fenced area can trap heat. Also, note that the public toilets in the wider park are generally locked and only opened up during scheduled baseball games.

Nearby. The broader Jabiru Park reserve includes a children's playground, baseball fields, and basketball courts. It is a genuine multi-use community space, so you can easily combine a dog run with family activities.

When to go. Early morning is the most comfortable time to visit in the tropical heat, and you will generally find the park much quieter before the weekend sports crowds arrive.
