The lower dog arenas at Castle Hill Showground sit south of Showground Road and, per The Hills Shire Council, operate as an off leash area at all times, with one standing exception: when formal club training sessions or competitions are running, only participating dogs may be off leash. That makes this one of the more reliable off leash spaces in The Hills, a big fenced arena surface close to the suburb centre rather than a corner of a general sports field.

Council's conditions are specific and worth knowing before you go. Handlers must be 16 or older, keep their dogs under effective control, and carry no more than 4 dogs each. Waste bags are your own responsibility, so bring them rather than assuming dispensers are stocked. Because the arena shares the showground precinct with event spaces, check the council's listings or local signage on arrival: if a training session or a competition is underway, the courtesy flips and your dog stays leashed for that session.

Getting there and parking

Entry is via Showground Road, with parking around the showground precinct. The arenas sit on the lower southern side, so walk downhill from the main car parks rather than crossing the road with a dog on lead. Weekday mornings are the quiet slot; weekend mornings can fill with regulars and club activity, so if your dog prefers space, time it early. The surface is the showground arena footing, easy on paws and flat for older dogs, and there is little shade in the middle of the day, so summer visits are best inside the first two hours after sunrise, and bringing your own water and bowl is the safe default rather than relying on facilities around the precinct.
