Springbank Rise Dog Park

Springbank Rise Dog Park is a fully fenced, free off-leash park on Hinder Street in Casey, open 24/7, with separate sections for big and small dogs under a canopy of mature eucalypts.

The rules. Dogs run off-leash inside the fenced area but must stay in sight and under voice control. Pick up after your dog straight away, bins are provided at the gates. Dogs with a history of aggression should sit this one out, and all dogs need current ACT registration.

What's there. Two double-gated, fenced sections split large and small dogs. Expect a mix of grass, dirt and gravel underfoot, water taps and bowls in both areas, shaded bench seating, and a treed zone with natural boulders for the more adventurous dogs to clamber over. A playground and toilets sit in the adjoining reserve.

Getting there. Access is off Hinder Street, with residential street parking nearby. Local Transport Canberra buses run to Casey Market Town, a short walk away.

Watch-outs. The mixed dirt-and-grass surface turns to mud after rain, so old shoes are a good idea. Lighting is limited, so this one's really a daylight park.

When to go. Weekday mid-mornings and weekend middays are the quiet windows. Expect a crowd on weekday evenings after 5pm and Saturday-Sunday mornings between 9 and 11. Good for dogs that like a bit of terrain to explore, not just flat grass.
