Centenary Park's off-leash area is the eastern side of the park, near Bignell Road, a large grassed stretch with surrounding trees that's become a genuine local meeting spot for dogs and their owners.
The rules. Off-leash is limited to the eastern side of the park. The western side, closer to Brady Road, is strictly on-leash. Dogs must go back on lead within 20 metres of the BBQ and picnic areas, the playground, the cricket nets and other sports facilities, and whenever training or sporting events are on. Dogs need to be under effective voice or hand control and not bother other park users, and you're required to carry a lead at all times even when your dog is off it.
What's there. Drinking fountains, public bins, and open grassy ground with tree cover for shade. The main Centenary Park playground and public toilets are close by, though the off-leash area itself isn't lit at night, so plan visits for daylight.
Getting there. The park is on Bignell Road, Bentleigh East. Free street parking runs along Bignell Road, and there's a small car park near the playground. It's a moderate walk from the bus routes on Centre Road if you're coming without a car.
Nearby with the dogs. The Merchants Guild on Centre Road has a rear, heated courtyard that welcomes dogs, and District Brewer in Bentleigh is well regarded for its dog-friendly outdoor seating. Several other cafes along Centre Road also offer outdoor tables where a dog can settle in.

Weekday mornings and early weekday afternoons are the quietest times to visit. Weekends and early weekday evenings bring the biggest crowds, and the area is mostly locals, so it's a good one for dogs that enjoy socialising.
