Macedonia Park Dog Off Leash Area

Macedonia Park is a neighbourhood park on Albert Street in Balcatta that doubles as a dog exercise space under the City of Stirling's default rules. It is a multi use reserve with a soccer ground at its centre, so a visit here is about open grass and a kick of the ball with the dog rather than a dedicated fenced dog park.

Off leash status

The City of Stirling's default is that dogs may be exercised off leash in most parks and reserves unless signposted otherwise, and findadogpark lists Macedonia Park in that spirit. Two limits apply everywhere in the city: dogs must be on leash within five metres of playgrounds, and they come off the sports grounds while a game is underway. Because this is a working soccer ground, access varies with the fixture calendar, so check the signs on the day and expect the playing surface to be off limits when a match is on.

The park itself is flat, grassed and open, the kind of space where a ball gets a proper run and a dog can stretch out without fences getting in the way. The grass around the perimeter and the paths circling the ground give you a loop to work with when the pitch itself is in use, and the reserve sits in a residential pocket so most of the traffic is locals rather than a weekend crowd. There are no dedicated dog water stations listed, so carry a bottle, and there is no fencing anywhere on the reserve, which means recall needs to be solid before the leash comes off.

You will find it at 273 Albert St, Balcatta, with street parking along Albert Street and the neighbouring residential streets. Because the ground is shared with soccer, the car park can fill on match mornings, so a weekday visit is the quieter bet for both parking and open grass.
