Coffeetreat is a family-run takeaway coffee spot on Gilbert Street in central Torquay, built for a fast, good cup rather than a long sit. Dogs are welcome at the footpath out front, which makes it an easy grab-and-go on the way to the beach.

The dog setup. Because it is primarily a takeaway, the dog-friendly space is the outdoor footpath area rather than any indoor seating. The team is reported to be lovely and easygoing about dogs. Bring your own water bowl, as a small takeaway counter will not always have one out.

Getting there. It is at 4/19 Gilbert Street, near the Coles end of the shopping strip. Street parking is available on Gilbert Street but turns over quickly in season.

Nearby with the dogs. The Esplanade and beach are a short walk downhill. Pick up a coffee, then carry on to the foreshore for a stroll. Confirm the current on-leash and off-leash beach times on council signage before you go.

Best as a quick fuel stop at the start of a walk. Good for owners who want speed and a calm dog on the lead beside them.
