Quarter Acre

Quarter Acre is a modern cafe tucked into Kwong Sang Walk, the covered heritage pedestrian laneway running off 25 Annand Street in the Toowoomba CBD. It brews Campos coffee, keeps a house-made pâtisserie cabinet, and because the laneway is car-free, it is one of the easier inner-city tables to share with a dog.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating inside the laneway precinct. The tables sit under cover in the pedestrian walkway, so there is no passing traffic, just foot traffic to keep your dog settled through. There is no formal water-bowl service advertised, so bring a bowl or ask at the counter. The indoor dining room stays humans-only.

Worth knowing

The draw is the pâtisserie cabinet and a solid breakfast and lunch menu; regulars name the buttermilk pancakes and the big breakfast, and there is beer and wine for the slow ones. It opens from 6am seven days and wraps up early afternoon, so this is a breakfast-and-brunch venue rather than an all-day one. The covered laneway also makes it a useful wet-weather option when the Toowoomba skies do their thing.

Getting there and parking

Kwong Sang Walk runs off 25 Annand Street near the Margaret Street end of the CBD, with plenty of parking at the Central Car Park next door and street parking around the city blocks.

The Queens Park Dog Off Leash Area is a short drive east of the laneway for a run before or after breakfast, and the unfenced parkland itself is an easy on-lead stroll from the CBD. For other dog-friendly coffee in the city, Park House Café on Margaret Street and NEW BREW CAFE are both established dog-welcoming stops.
