The Tasting Deck

The Tasting Deck is the cafe attached to the Forestway Fresh produce market at 2 Myoora Road, Terrey Hills, and its big outdoor deck is comfortably dog-friendly. The clincher for dog owners is geography: Terrey Hills' off-leash oval sits in the same pocket of the suburb, so a morning run and brunch make an easy double.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome on the outdoor deck with room to settle beside the tables, staying leashed and out of the indoor market and cafe areas. Water bowls are usually around but not a certainty, so a collapsible bowl earns its spot in the car.

There is a kids' playground on site, so children are part of the scenery; a dog that is relaxed around small people will settle best here.

The vibe

The menu leans on the produce the market sells: poached and baked eggs, a wagyu burger, a reuben sandwich and a rotating special of the day. Hours run 7am to 4pm daily, which makes breakfast and lunch the play rather than dinner.

Max: off-lead at Terrey Hills Oval before 8:30am, then straight to the deck while the coffee machine is still warm. A dog that has already run is a far better brunch companion.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits just off Mona Vale Road with free off-street parking at the market. Terrey Hills Oval's dog area, which allows off-lead from midnight to 8:30am daily, is a couple of minutes away by car.

Make a day of it

If the visit stretches to lunch, Terrey Hills Tavern is close by, and Tastebuds at the Hills and The Coffee House by Cashew's Artisans cover the coffee alternatives in the same village. Further down the road, Modus Brewing at Mona Vale runs a dog-friendly beer garden for the afternoon shift.
