Toby's Estate Coffee One Farrer

Toby's Estate at One Farrer Place is the financial district's polished coffee stop, pouring specialty roasts and turning out fresh sandwiches for the weekday towers. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables, which makes it a handy pre-walk or post-walk coffee if you are passing through the city with a dog on a leash.

The dog setup

Dogs stay outside, at the tables on a semi-sheltered plaza with enough pavement-side room to tuck a dog in beside your chair. Indoors is off-limits under the usual food-handling rules, but the outside seating is easy to reach from the street. Pack a portable water bowl, because one is not guaranteed at the tables.

The vibe

This is Toby's Estate as the brand does it properly: blends and single-origins by people who take the brewing seriously, plus a tight lunch menu of sandwiches, the chicken and the BLT among them. It runs weekdays only, from 7am to mid-afternoon (3pm on Fridays), and closes on weekends, so plan this as a working-week stop. Mornings before nine are the tower rush; mid-morning is calmer.

Max: A serious flat white in the middle of the concrete, and somewhere to park a well-behaved dog while the humans catch their breath.

Getting there

One Farrer Place sits between Circular Quay and Wynyard stations, both a short walk away. Street parking here is very limited, so if you drive, a nearby commercial car park is the realistic option.

Make a morning of it

The Cook + Phillip Park lawns are a short walk up the hill for a leg stretch on the leash, and the Circular Quay foreshore gives you a flat, scenic stroll along the water afterwards.
