Franks Espresso Bar

Franks Espresso Bar is a weekday espresso bar at Shop 1, 5 Investigator Street in South Nowra's industrial strip on the NSW South Coast, open 6.30am to 1.30pm Monday to Friday and closed on weekends. It draws tradies, office workers and families in equal numbers, rated close to perfect for the coffee and the relaxed welcome, and dogs are part of the deal, with visitors specifically calling out how easy it is to bring one along.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome across the cafe's outdoor and indoor spaces, unusual for an industrial-strip espresso bar, and there is a grassed outdoor area where a dog settles easily. Pup cups are on the menu for visiting dogs. Water is available on request if a bowl is not already out.

The coffee and food

The espresso is the headline, with long blacks and cold brew that reviewers single out for quality, alongside fresh juices like the Kick Starter and Lemon Quencher. Food runs to loaded bacon and egg rolls, ham and cheese croissants, quiches with side salads and a cabinet of baked goods and shortbread, with vegetarian and gluten-free options covered. The toddler play area in the grassed space makes it a rare coffee stop that works for both ends of the leash and the high chair.

Getting there and parking

Investigator Street sits in the South Nowra industrial estate, an easy turn off the Princes Highway south of the Shoalhaven River crossing. Parking is ample and on-site, so there is no circling with the dog in the car.

For off-leash time, Nowra Fenced Dog Park at the showground is the closest dedicated run, and Bomo Dog Bowl Fenced Dog Park is the Bomaderry alternative. Espresso Boy Doughnuts is the next coffee-and-treat stop up the road if you are pairing visits.
