Sugar+Spoon

Sugar+Spoon is a relaxed cafe on New South Head Road in Rose Bay, a short stroll from the foreshore and the off-leash areas around Lyne Park. It opens from 7am most days (7:30am Sundays) and is the kind of spot regulars bring the dog on the way to or from a walk.

The menu is more inventive than the cafe strip norm: a soft shell crab omelette and fish wrap get named in reviews, alongside solid coffee, fresh juices and house muffins. The atmosphere is laid-back and local, easy to linger in. Weekday mornings are calmer on the patio; weekends get busy given the proximity to the off-leash areas, so arrive early for a table.

Getting there and parking

The address is 600 New South Head Road, Rose Bay, on the strip in Sydney's east. Street parking along New South Head Road gets tight on weekends, and buses along the road stop nearby, which is often the easier option. The Rose Bay foreshore and its off-leash beach area are a short walk down the hill.
