Ordinary day cafe

Ordinary Day Cafe is a bright, modern all-day cafe at 7 Maitland Place, Norwest, in a quieter pocket of the business park away from the main Marketown strip. It is one of the more genuinely dog-friendly cafes in the precinct, and the puppuccinos are on the menu rather than a favour you have to ask for.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating and, unusually for the area, inside as well, on lead and under control. The layout is spacious, so there is room for a dog to settle rather than squeeze under a small table. Water bowls are generally out in the outdoor area. If you have a dog that finds crowded footpath dining stressful, this is the calmer Norwest choice.

The vibe and the food

The menu covers breakfast and brunch all day: corn fritters, eggs benedict, nasi goreng and a peri peri chicken sandwich are the regular mentions, with matcha lattes and cold-pressed juices for drinks. It trades seven days, roughly 7am to 4pm on weekdays and a shorter morning run on weekends, covering both the weekday coffee crowd and weekend brunch.

The address is Shop G01, 7 Maitland Place, Norwest NSW 2153. Street parking is available around Maitland Place with paid parking options nearby, and being off the main strip means the parking is easier than the Marketown side even at brunch peak.

Nearby with the dogs

The Norwest Lake loop is the natural walk either side of coffee, though The Hills Shire Council keeps the lakeside paths on-lead. For a proper run, Crestwood Reserve Fenced Dog Park off Peel Road in Baulkham Hills has double-gated enclosures split for large and small dogs, agility obstacles and water. Whole and Lakeside Cafe are the same-suburb alternatives.
