Cafe One 40 One

Cafe One 40 One is a small, quick-stop coffee spot at Unit 1/141 Beaudesert Nerang Road, next to the fire station on the main road through Nerang. It opens before most of the Gold Coast is awake and runs on a compact menu of barista coffee, toasties and baked goods. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating out the front, which makes it an easy pull-in for locals walking the Beaudesert Nerang Road corridor.

The dog setup

Dogs sit with you in the outdoor area on the pavement section directly outside the entrance. There is no fenced yard or dedicated dog menu, just a friendly counter crew who will often sort out a water top-up from behind the bar. A portable bowl is worth carrying, and keep your dog close to the table because the cafe fronts straight onto a busy road.

The menu

The focus is coffee first, backed by a tight food list rather than a full brunch menu. Expect gourmet toasties with rotating fillings, crumpets with sweet or savoury toppings, savoury muffins and a fresh daily run of baked goods, with a decent spread of gluten-free options. There is a phone-ahead ordering option, which is handy when you are juggling a lead and a lid. Hours run from early on weekday mornings to about 1:30pm, Saturdays from 6am to 1pm, and the cafe is closed Sundays, so confirm before you build a plan around it.

Getting there and parking

It sits right on Beaudesert Nerang Road with free street parking usually close by, and the early opening means the curb out front is rarely congested at opening time.

Close by with the dogs

For a proper run before or after coffee, Kamholtz Family Fenced Dog Park and Swift Park are both a short drive away, and the Nerang riverbank paths suit an on-lead stretch. If you want to make a longer stop of it, Grazeway on Tibbing Street is another dog-welcoming option in the same suburb.

Max: Pull in early, grab a toastie and they had water sorted before I even sat down. Easy stop when you are walking the dog along the main road.
