Myyraki

Myyraki is a small cafe inside the Plantland nursery at 26 Victor Harbor Road, Mount Compass, on the main road between Adelaide and the south coast. It made its name on waffles, house-baked pie, cakes and sourdough served at outdoor tables looking over the hills, and it sits on a reasonable stopping point for anyone driving the Fleurieu with a dog in the back.

The dog setup

Visitors report dogs being welcome in the outdoor seating area, which sits within the nursery grounds rather than on a footpath, and staff have been known to hand over a dog biscuit. Treat the indoor room as off limits. The nursery setting helps: a slow wander among the plants on a short lead is part of the visit, and there is shade to settle under while the waffles arrive.

Trading details here have shifted recently: listings disagree on hours, with one directory showing the cafe trading around 9am to 2pm on most days and the venue's own social posts advertising roughly 9am to 5pm on weekends, and the operation has at times posted under a different name at the same address. Call or check the latest social posts before making a special trip. The food reputation, when it is running, is cosy and unpretentious: waffles, pie, cakes, coffee, hill views.

Getting there and parking

The nursery car park takes care of parking, and the turnoff from Victor Harbor Road is straightforward from either direction. Mount Compass is about an hour south of Adelaide and a similar distance inland from Victor Harbor.

Close by with the dogs

The Mount Compass Hotel covers a proper pub meal in town, and BIG4 Mount Compass Caravan Park keeps a fenced dog paddock for a real run after the drive.
