Oliver Brown sits at T1, 10 Brookfield Road inside the Minto Marketplace precinct, the Belgian chocolate cafe known across its small chain for churros, waffles and thick hot chocolate. The Minto branch trades later than most cafes in the area, 8am to 9pm Monday to Saturday and 8am to 8pm Sundays, which makes an evening dessert run a realistic plan rather than a lunch-only option.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area only, on a leash and under your control for the visit. The indoor section is people-only. The outdoor area sits right by the mall entrance with heaters for cooler days, and staff are generally accommodating, though bringing your own water bowl is the reliable move during busy periods.

Worth knowing

Order the classics: Belgian chocolate waffles, crepes, churros with the warm chocolate dip, or a mocha for the road, plus banana bread and matcha for the less decadent. Because the cafe is inside a shopping centre precinct, there is steady foot traffic past the tables, so a settled dog copes far better than an anxious one. Weekday mornings are the calm window.

Getting there and parking

Minto Marketplace has extensive free parking in the adjacent car park, and the outdoor seating is easy to reach from the entrance with a pram or wheelchair. Minto station is close by on the T8 Airport and South line if you are arriving by train.

Close by with the dogs

For a proper run before the waffles, Minto Fenced Dog Park on Eagleview Road is a short drive away, with more than half an acre, double-gated entries, agility equipment and a paved walking circuit. Milton Park Fenced Dog Park in Macquarie Fields is another option a little further north, with separate sections for large and small dogs. For a second coffee stop, Too Good Cafe on Queen Street in Campbelltown has dedicated dog-friendly outdoor seating and the occasional puppacino.
