Blue Door Kiosk Merewether

Blue Door Kiosk sits directly on the Merewether Beach promenade at the corner of Watkins Street and John Parade, opening its shutters from 5:45am every day of the week. For anyone walking the coastal path with a dog, it is the obvious coffee stop, with the ocean across the footpath and the Bathers Way running past the door.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor, covered seating area facing the water, and indoor seating stays people-only as with any food premises. Keep the dog leashed at the table; the promenade traffic is steady from early on fine mornings. Water bowls are usually available but carry your own as backup.

The vibe

The menu is simple beachside fare: bacon and egg rolls, locally roasted exclusive-blend coffee, cold-pressed juices and the Coco Whip soft serve that draws its own queue in summer. Sunrise walkers get the quiet tables, and the kiosk trades through the early afternoon, including public holidays. Getting there

Street parking along John Parade is limited and fills fast on sunny mornings and weekends, so expect a short walk from a side street or the beach car parks. Public amenities sit nearby at Merewether Beach, and the whole strip is easily reached on foot or by bike.

While you're out there

The Bathers Way to Newcastle walk starts at your table, and the Merewether Dog Off-Leash Area is a short walk north for an off-lead run. If the queue is down the block, Sidetrack Coffee is the local alternative.
