V’s Viet Cafe

V's Viet Cafe is a family-run Vietnamese cafe at Marsden on Fifth, in the shopping centre next to Woolworths on Fifth Avenue, and it is genuinely welcoming to dogs rather than merely tolerant of them. Banh mi and brunch plates are the draw, and the dog menu is the reason Logan dog owners keep coming back.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome with you in the outdoor seating, and the cafe is known for a dedicated pup menu with treats on offer, so ask when you order. Keep your dog on a lead and close to the table, since the seating is shared with other diners. Staff are used to well behaved dogs at the table, which shows in how unhurried the service is.

The vibe and the menu

The kitchen runs two tracks. The Vietnamese side covers the crispy pork banh mi that reviewers keep naming, rich beef pho, lemongrass chicken rice and Vietnamese iced coffee. The brunch side covers eggs benedict, pancakes and the usual cafe plates, so mixed groups of picky and adventurous eaters both get served. Hours run 6am to 3pm Monday to Wednesday, to 9pm Thursday and Friday, 7am to 3pm Saturday and 8am to 3pm Sunday.

Getting there and parking

Find it at Shop 8, 1-13 Fifth Avenue, Marsden, in the Marsden on Fifth centre. Parking is free in the centre car park and on surrounding streets, and the entrance is wheelchair accessible.

Make a day of it

The fenced run at Brandon Park is the natural pairing for burning off energy either side of lunch, with the off-lead space at Marsden Park nearby and the Greater Wetland Walk if you would rather a bushland loop.
