Purple Parrot Acai Liverpool

Purple Parrot Acai is a late-trading acai and soft-serve shop on Northumberland Street in central Liverpool, and with footpath seating out front it doubles as an easy street-side stop with a dog while you work through one of their oversized custom bowls.

The dog setup

Plan on the outdoor seating: dogs on leads settle at the footpath tables, while NSW food rules keep indoor dining to assistance animals only. There is no dog menu here, so bring a collapsible bowl and water, particularly on warm afternoons when the shop gets busy. The strip frontage carries steady foot traffic, so a dog that settles under the table on a short lead is the right fit.

Pepsi: this is a dessert stop, not a dog lounge. In, bowl ordered, out again works just as well as sitting in.

Worth knowing

The reputation is built on big customisable acai bowls with a choice of acai, mango and dragonfruit bases and heavy drizzles of Nutella, Biscoff and house pistachio sauce. Hours run long - from 9am to 11pm most nights and to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays - so it works as an evening option when most cafes have shut. Weekend nights get lively out front; earlier in the day is the calm window.

Getting there and parking

The shop sits in the Liverpool CBD, a short walk from Liverpool Station. Metered street parking along Northumberland Street fills at peak times, and the nearby Westfield and council car parks are the easier bet. Liverpool council's off-leash areas around Chipping Norton Lakes are a short drive for a walk before dessert.
