Papaya

Papaya is a health-focused breakfast and lunch cafe at Shop 5/76-78 Ballina Street, the main strip in Lennox Head, a short walk from the beach. Dogs are welcome at the footpath tables out front, which makes it an easy early stop on a walk-and-coffee morning in this very dog-friendly coastal town.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor seating on the footpath, leashed and settled beside your table; the inside dining room is people-only, as is standard. Staff will usually bring a water bowl if you ask, but it is worth carrying your own on a warm Northern Rivers day, especially if you are rolling straight off the beach path.

The vibe and the menu

The kitchen leans fresh and healthy: acai bowls are the standout, alongside granola bowls, nourish bowls, a halloumi burger, banh mi, smoothies and proper vegan options, much of it built on Northern Rivers produce. Coffee is reliable and the service is easygoing. Hours run 6:30am to 2pm every day, so it suits an early surf-and-breakfast routine rather than a late lunch.

Getting there and parking

Street parking runs along Ballina Street but fills up in season, with more public parking just off the main street, and the footpath setting is flat and easy on foot. The Lennox Head dog beach and its off-leash zone are a short walk away for the run before coffee, and the Lennox Head boardwalk stretches the morning out properly. Kopi Lennox up the street and The Point Cafe by the headland are the other dog-friendly options in town.
