The Point Cafe(Lennox Head)

The Point Cafe sits on Ballina Street in the Lennox Head village, and the draw is exactly what the name suggests: an elevated outdoor patio with views over Seven Mile Beach. It opens 6am to 3pm every day, so it works for the pre-beach breakfast and the post-surf lunch alike, with well behaved dogs welcome at the front tables.

The dog setup

Dogs join you on the covered outdoor patio facing the street; indoor seating is people only. Water bowls are typically provided, though carrying your own is sensible on warm northern rivers days. Keep your dog on lead at the tables, and aim for the outer tables where the beach outlook is best and there is room for a dog to lie flat without blocking the footpath.

Max: Off lead run on the beach first, bacon and egg roll on the patio second. That is the correct order of operations here.

Worth knowing

The menu runs all day breakfast and lunch: eggs benedict, breaky rolls, sourdough and thick shakes, with fresh juices and house made cakes in the cabinet. On street parking on Ballina Street gets busy on weekends and holidays, but the beach carparks are a short walk. Hours have shifted between 3pm and later closes across seasons, so check the board if you are arriving late afternoon.

Getting there and parking

It is at Unit 6/71 Ballina Street, the main drag through Lennox Head. From the patio it is a two minute walk down to the sand, and the coastal boardwalk starts nearby if you would rather stay on lead and on pavement.

Close by with the dogs

The big news is at the sand: Seven Mile Beach Dog Beach Car Park (Lennox Head) marks the off leash stretch, which under Ballina Shire rules runs north of the surf club while dogs stay off the southern end and around Lake Ainsworth. For coffee afterwards, Kopi Lennox and Papaya are fellow dog friendly spots on the same street, and the Lennox Head Boardwalk makes the on lead coastal leg.
