Gather at The Sanctuary Cafe sits within the Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary on Hinterland Way at Knockrow, a straightforward highway pit stop with leafy surrounds, a seasonal Northern Rivers menu, and outdoor seating where dogs are welcome.

The dog setup. Dogs are allowed in the outdoor seating areas only. The space is spacious, shaded, and comfortable, with plenty of room for your dog to settle beside you. Dogs are not permitted inside the cafe or within the wildlife sanctuary walkthrough enclosures. Water bowls are sometimes available, but bring your own to be safe.

The cafe runs on a wildlife conservation model, with all profits directed back into sanctuary education efforts. The food leans on local produce, the coffee is well regarded, and the venue is licensed, pouring Seven Miles Brewing Co beer alongside drinks from Husk Distillers and Brookie's Gin.

Parking is large, free, and directly off the highway. Tesla Superchargers are located in the car park. Opening hours are generally 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM daily for breakfast and lunch, but check their website before you travel.
