Roma Republic Kinross is a casual neighbourhood cafe inside the Kinross Central Shopping Centre, open 6am to 2pm every day, and the reason dog owners keep it in the rotation is unusually practical: the sheltered outdoor seating area has dedicated lead anchor points built in. Clip in, order, and your dog is secure while you deal with the coffee. It is a small bit of design that changes the whole visit.

Dogs are welcome in the sheltered outdoor section, where the lead points do the holding and water is provided on request. Keep your dog leashed throughout, since the seating area sits close to the centre's car park and the through-traffic of shoppers. Get the lead clipped to a tie-out point before you order rather than after, so a busy moment at the counter does not leave you chasing.

Worth knowing

Coffee is the main event, served in generous mugs, with a dirty chai and a long black that regulars order on repeat. Food skews hearty brunch with house-made treats and vegan options, and a kids corner makes it a workable morning stop for families with a dog in tow. Getting there and parking

The cafe is in the Kinross Central centre, reached off the suburban roads around Selkirk Drive and Connolly Drive, with plenty of free parking in the surrounding car park. It is a quick hop from Currambine, Connolly and Joondalup's southern edge.

Close by with the dogs

MacNaughton Park and Kinross Park are both nearby for an on-lead leg-stretch either side of coffee. If you want a second stop with the dog on the same side of town, Blanc Canvas Cafe in Connolly and Fern Avenue Cafe in Currambine are both short drives.
