Dôme Café - Currambine

Dome Cafe at Currambine Central is a shopping-centre staple with a paved, semi-sheltered outdoor seating area by the main entrance where dogs are welcome, open 6am to 6pm every day of the week. It works as well for a 6:30am coffee as it does for a late-afternoon break after the school run.

The dog setup

Dogs stay at the outdoor tables, which you reach directly from the walkways around the precinct without going indoors. Leashed and settled is the expectation, and bowls are not guaranteed at every visit, so a portable water bowl is worth packing. The paving heats up through summer afternoons, which is another argument for the morning shift.

Max: the outdoor area is big enough that a corner table away from the walkway keeps a dog out of the pram and trolley traffic.

The vibe

The menu runs the standard Dome spread of all-day breakfast, lunch and dessert, and the space doubles as a popular laptop-and-coffee spot given the size of the alfresco area. Outside the weekend shopping rush it is noticeably calmer, and weekday mornings are the quietest of all.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits inside Currambine Central on Marmion Avenue, with extensive free parking across the centre carpark right outside. The outdoor tables face the entrance side, so there is no long carry for dogs or gear.

Pair it with

For an actual off-lead run first, the Elcar Park fenced dog park is a few minutes north in Joondalup, and the Lake Joondalup circuit covers an on-lead lap. Fern Avenue Cafe is the local alternative if the centre is heaving.
