The Giddy Goat

The Giddy Goat is a bustling community cafe in the Keiraville Village shops at 4/207-211 Gipps Road, Wollongong, and its under-cover outdoor seating makes it one of the easier dog-friendly stops in the area, rain or shine. It sits between the Wollongong Botanic Garden and the Mount Keira walking tracks, so the crowd skews heavily toward walkers and cyclists.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the under-cover outdoor section, leashed and settled beside the table; indoors stays dog-free under NSW food rules. The cover is the practical win: a table still works if the weather turns mid-walk. Water bowls are put out for dogs and homemade treats have been offered, though it is worth checking what is available on the day.

The vibe and the menu

All-day breakfast covers bacon and egg rolls, big breakfasts, acai and dragonfruit bowls, granola tarts and egg hotpot, with generous vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free coverage, plus muffins and a dirty chai worth ordering. Daytime hours run 6:30am to 3pm weekdays and 6:30am to 2pm weekends, and online menus list an evening service on Thursday through Saturday nights, so check ahead if you are eyeing dinner.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits directly on Gipps Road, the main drag through Keiraville. Free street parking lines Gipps Road and the side streets, and there is a free lot servicing the village shops. Early mornings bring the post-hike crowd down from Mount Keira; weekend brunch is the busy peak.

While you're out there

The Mount Keira tracks and the Botanic Garden's on-lead paths are the natural pairings. Down the hill, Coniston Dog Beach gives dogs a proper swim, and The White Rabbit Cafe, Bar and Grill is the other Keiraville option. For city coffee, Lee and Me is the CBD favourite.
