Aviator's Cafe

A heads-up before you set out: Aviator's Cafe, the ground-level cafe at Jandakot Airport that traded on runway views and a dog-friendly outdoor patio, no longer operates under that name. The venue identity this page started as has closed, and the cafe space at 41 Eagle Drive now runs as The Apron Cafe, upstairs inside the Royal Aero Club of WA. Treat the dog-friendly setup described in older listings as history rather than a current promise.

What operates there now

The Apron Cafe keeps the core appeal: panoramic windows over the active runways, cabinet-style coffee and toasties, light lunches and cakes, with the club bar alongside. It runs Tuesday to Friday from 8:30am to 3pm and Saturday from 9am to 2pm, closed Sundays and Mondays. On dogs, the club's rules are stricter than the old cafe's: pets are generally not permitted inside the club facilities and dining areas, and airfield safety rules limit unconstrained animals around the apron, so the outdoor-deck situation needs a call ahead rather than an assumption.

If you are in Jandakot with the dogs

For a guaranteed off-lead run nearby, Yarra Vista Park Fenced Dog Park on Dean Road has double-gated enclosures split for large and small dogs, agility gear and water, and Jan Hammond Park Fenced Dog Park in Success is a short drive north with separate enclosures and agility hurdles. Plane spotting on foot with a leashed dog is possible from public viewing areas around the precinct, outside the operational zones.
