Biggs Coffee Hamilton

Biggs Coffee sits at 1A Beaumont Street, right beside Hamilton Station, and it is built for speed: a grab-and-go specialty coffee bar with a loyal commuter following. There is no indoor dining at all, which works out nicely for dog owners, because everyone is outside anyway. Weekdays it opens at 5:30am and runs to 5pm; weekends start at 6:30am and wind up at 2pm.

The dog setup

A small courtyard and the footpath tables out front are where you and your dog will wait for coffee, and staff are known for making a fuss of dogs in the queue. It sits close to Beaumont Street traffic and the station forecourt, so keep the lead on and your dog tucked in close. Treats and water bowls are a nice-to-have rather than a promise, so carry water on warm mornings.

Worth knowing

The espresso is the reason to come, with quick breakfast bites alongside: toasties, almond croissants and a flat white that early trains depend on. It is one of the friendliest stops on the strip for dogs on the morning walk, and the turnover is quick, so even a busy spell moves fast.

Getting there and parking

The shop is beside Hamilton Station, so arriving on the train is the easy option. Beaumont Street parking is limited and fills fast on weekends; the side streets off the strip have a better strike rate if you are driving.

Close by with the dogs

A short stroll down Beaumont Street afterwards gives a sniffy end to the outing, and Gregson Park on Tudor Street is nearby for a stretch of grass. If you are making a morning of the strip, ToTi Co. and Beaumont Station Cafe are both dog-friendly stops on the same run.
