My Rainbow-Dreams is a long-running vegetarian and vegan cafe on the Dickson shops plaza, and dogs are welcome at the outdoor footpath tables out the front. It is a homely, colourful spot known for hearty meatless plates, and the flat plaza setting makes it an easy, accessible stop with a dog.

The dog setup. The dog-friendly area is the footpath seating right by the entrance, level and easy to reach from the plaza. Indoors is not the place for dogs. Table water is around, but bring a travel bowl to be sure. The frontage can get busy, so keep an energetic dog on a short lead.

Good to know. The kitchen is known for its daily curry special, colourful vegetable-packed rainbow wraps, house-made vegan and gluten-free cakes, and a comforting homemade chai.

Getting there. It is at Shop G1, Dickson Chambers, 25 Dickson Place, with ample free parking in the Dickson precinct car parks and a short walk from the Dickson Interchange.

Weekday late mornings are quieter than the weekend rush if you want a calmer footpath table, and there is plenty of shaded plaza nearby for a post-lunch stroll.
