The Little Goat - Devonport

The Little Goat is a specialty coffee shop at 41 Stewart Street in central Devonport, the little sister cafe to the local Leaping Goat roastery. It opened to an enthusiastic local response, and its footpath seating along the main street has made it a regular stop for the town's dog walkers.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor footpath tables along Stewart Street, and staff are easy about it: water bowls come out, and the occasional treat has been known to follow. Indoor access is not confirmed, so plan on the footpath area and check with staff on the day.

Worth knowing

The coffee is the headline, poured from beans roasted in town by Leaping Goat, and locals single out the almond milk lattes and cappuccinos. Food is casual: quick brunch plates, loaded toasties and house-baked sweets. Hours are 6:30am to 3pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 2pm Saturday, closed Sundays.

Getting there and parking

It sits on Stewart Street in the city centre, an easy walk from most of Devonport. Street parking is generally available outside or on the nearby CBD blocks.

Close by with the dogs

The Mersey River foreshore is a short walk away, a flat riverside path with port views where dogs stay on-lead. For off-lead time, Devonport Dog Park at Steele Street is fully fenced with a double-gate entry and runs all hours, and Devonport Back Beach gives you a designated off-leash stretch of sand west of Bluff Beach.
