Muffins and More

Muffins and More is a small, busy cafe at 26 Albert Street, right in the centre of Daylesford, and the footpath tables looking over the main street take dogs. It works well as an early coffee or breakfast stop before heading for the lake or the hill walks, with doors opening from 6:30am on weekdays.

The dog setup

Dogs join you at the outdoor and footpath seating only. Staff are well practised with dogs out the front and will generally bring a water bowl, but pack your own on busy weekends when the tables are turning over. The outdoor area is compact, so weekend mornings fill quickly and a mid-week visit is the relaxed version.

Worth knowing

The name is honest: muffins and fresh-baked pastries lead the cabinet, alongside hearty breakfast and lunch plates, sausage rolls, eggs benedict and fresh orange juice. Portions are big and prices are fair, which is why the room stays busy through the day. It closes mid afternoon, around 3:30 on weekdays and 3pm on weekends.

Getting there and parking

Albert Street is the main strip through town, and street parking turns over slowly on weekends, so allow a few extra minutes. Daylesford is compact enough that most accommodation is within walking distance.

Make a day of it

Wombat Hill and its botanic gardens sit a short walk uphill with easy on-lead paths, and the lake suits a longer loop. For a proper walk, the Tipperary Spring via Blowhole circuit and the Three Lost Children Walk both start close to town. Staying over, Jubilee Lake Holiday Park and Cafe is a dog-friendly base by the water.
