Coffee Guru Lanyon

Coffee Guru Lanyon is a house-roasting cafe at Shop 6/4 Sidney Nolan Street in the Lanyon Marketplace, Conder, on Canberra's southern edge. It opens every day from 7am to 3pm and is a straightforward local stop for breakfast, a bacon and egg roll, or a takeaway coffee on the way to a walk.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables that front the marketplace walkway. Indoors is for service animals only, which is standard for a food venue, so plan on sitting outside and keeping your dog leashed and settled at the table.

Water bowls are often put out and the staff are easygoing with pets, though on a quiet morning it is worth asking. The access from the car park to the tables is flat and step free.

Worth knowing

The coffee is roasted in house, which is the reliable drawcard, and the menu runs through bacon and egg rolls, omelettes, burgers, hot chocolates and vegetarian options, with a strong takeaway trade. It is a convenient suburban stop rather than a destination cafe, and the walkway tables suit a quick feed more than a long sit.

Getting there

The cafe sits inside the Lanyon Marketplace on Sidney Nolan Street, Conder. Parking is free and plentiful in the marketplace car park, and weekday mornings are the calmest time for a table with a dog.

Make a day of it
