The Pavement Society

The Pavement Society is a small, sociable cafe on Main Road in Boolaroo, run by a self-confessed dog lover and known locally as a friendly third space for a coffee and a chat.

Dog setup. Dogs are welcome at the street-side tables out front. Water bowls are usually on hand, and the leash-on-footpath rule applies since the seating fronts directly onto Main Road foot traffic.

Known for. DiMattina coffee and a rotating line-up of toasties that locals rate highly. The shop doubles as a small candle retailer, so there is browsing to do while your coffee cools.

Getting there. The cafe sits at 38 Main Road, Boolaroo, on the main strip and easy to spot. Street parking is available on Main Road and the side streets nearby.

Nearby with the dogs. The Lake Macquarie walking and cycling path is close by for a stretch of the legs, and Speers Point Park's off-leash area is a short drive away if your dog needs a proper run.

A weekday coffee run works best here, folding a stop into a walk along the foreshore rather than making it the whole outing.
