Chittaway Bay Dog Exercise Area - also known as Lees Reserve - is a 24/7 off-leash grassy reserve on James Watt Drive in Chittaway Bay, on the Central Coast. Despite the "bay" in the name, this is not a beach. Tides play no role here. It is simply an open, unfenced stretch of grass where local dogs can stretch their legs at any hour.
The rules. Dogs must be under effective voice control at all times, and no more than four dogs per person are permitted. Keep dogs at least 10 metres away from children's play equipment. Because the reserve is unfenced and sits adjacent to roads, a solid recall is non-negotiable. Always pick up after your dog.
What's there. The short answer: open grass and not much else. There is no water station, no significant shade, and minimal seating, so bring your own water and a mat. Free on-street parking is available along James Watt Drive.

When to go. Weekday afternoons between 4 and 6 PM and weekend mornings from 8 to 10 AM are the busiest windows, though the reserve is rarely crowded. After heavy rain the middle of the field collects water, so stick to the higher ground along the edges. Access is straightforward via the M1 Pacific Motorway and Wyong Road, with buses on Wyong Road a short walk away.
