Chirping Bird Wines

Chirping Bird is a small, family-run cellar door on Stumpy Gully Road, pouring cool-climate pinot noir, chardonnay and shiraz from its Moorooduc gardens. It is one of the more relaxed dog welcomes in the region, with well-behaved dogs allowed inside the cellar door, so the weather need not decide your visit.

The dog setup

Well-behaved dogs on a lead are welcome inside the cellar door as well as at the casual outdoor seating, and water bowls are typically available. Keep your dog leashed and settled, because tastings here are intimate and close-quarters.

The vibe

Tastings are personal and often hosted by the vigneron himself, with a good-humoured, unhurried feel and cheese platters to go with the wine. The gardens, artwork and relaxed atmosphere get regular mentions, and the roseade is one to ask about.

Getting there and parking

The cellar door is on Stumpy Gully Road, just off Mornington-Tyabb Road, with on-site parking and a wheelchair-accessible entrance. Opening is limited to weekends, Saturday 11am to 5pm and Sunday 11am to 4pm, and occasionally otherwise, so check their socials or call before making the trip. Plan it as a morning-onwards visit rather than a late finish, since the Sunday session wraps at 4pm and the small room suits a quiet weekend session over a big group booking.
