Chirping Bird is a small, family-run cellar door on Stumpy Gully Road, pouring cool-climate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Shiraz. It is one of the more relaxed dog welcomes in Moorooduc, with well-behaved dogs allowed inside the cellar door, so the weather need not decide your visit.

The dog setup. Well-behaved dogs on a lead are welcome inside the cellar door as well as the casual outdoor seating. Water bowls are typically available. Keep your dog leashed and settled, as tastings here are intimate and close-quarters.

Good to know. Tastings are personal and often hosted by the vigneron himself, with a good-humoured, unhurried feel and cheese platters to go with the wine. Reviewers highlight the gardens and relaxed atmosphere.

Getting there. The cellar door is on Stumpy Gully Road, just off Mornington-Tyabb Road, with on-site parking and a wheelchair-accessible entrance. Opening is limited, generally weekends only (roughly Saturday 11am to 5pm, Sunday 11am to 4pm) and occasionally otherwise, so check their socials before making the trip.

Nearby with the dogs. Stumpy Gully Vineyard is just down the road for another dog-friendly tasting, and Moorooduc Quarry Flora and Fauna Reserve offers on-lead bushwalking close by.

When to go. Confirm the hours first, since this is a weekend-and-by-chance opening. A quieter weekend session suits dogs given the small, indoor tasting space. Good for a calm, one-on-one tasting rather than a big group.
