Greg Cooley Wines

Greg Cooley Wines is a family-run cellar door on the main road into Clare, pouring small-batch sparkling, whites, reds and fortifieds with weekend live music and food trucks in the mix. It is one of the Clare Valley's most genuinely dog-welcoming stops, with resident pets on site and owners Greg and Kelli setting a chatty, unpretentious tone.

The dog setup

Dogs join you on the undercover deck and lawn where most of the tasting action happens, and staff have been known to welcome well-behaved dogs further in on quieter days. Keep the lead on moving between the car park and the deck, and carry a water bowl since one is not guaranteed. The venue has a resident dog and cat, so give them a moment of space until you know how your own dog reads the situation.

Max: on live music weekends the deck fills up, so check how your dog copes with the crowd before settling in for a long tasting.

Worth knowing

Tastings run 10am to 5pm daily. Food trucks often appear on weekends and the music program stretches into evening shows, so a quick stop can easily become an afternoon. The cellar door sits next to a popular bakery if you want to line the stomach first. Confirm current dog rules with staff on arrival, especially when the deck is busy.

Getting there and parking

The cellar door is at 12 Main North Road, Clare, with parking on site. It sits about 700 metres from the Discovery Parks caravan ground, handy if you are staying in town with the dog, and an easy walk from Clare's town centre.
