View Wine is a small, host-run cellar door within the Sancerre Estate vineyard on the New England Highway at Ballandean, and as the name suggests the view is the point. Brad and Stacey pour their own Granite Belt wines from outdoor terraces looking over the valley toward Girraween, and tastings here are personal rather than commercial. It suits a slow afternoon, and the terraces are where you and the dog will want to be anyway.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome on the outdoor terraces and viewing areas, and the venue is listed as pet friendly on an enquire basis, so call or message ahead if you are travelling specifically with your dog. Keep them on lead through the vineyard and around other guests, and bring your own water bowl because nothing is guaranteed on site. Mention the dog when you arrange a tasting so there are no surprises on arrival.

Max: this is a two-person show, so the dog policy depends on who is pouring that day. A quick message before you drive out beats turning up hopeful.

Worth knowing

The wines are premium small-batch Granite Belt drops, including a Shiraz that made the James Halliday Top 100, and sunset tastings over the valley are the signature. Because it is a boutique operation rather than a big cellar door, visits are intimate, so a settled dog that will lie quietly at your feet fits best. Late afternoon is the time to aim for if you want the view doing its best work.

Getting there and parking

The cellar door sits within the Sancerre Estate vineyard on the New England Highway at Ballandean, about 20 minutes south of Stanthorpe. There is on-site parking a short walk from the terraces, and EV charging points are available if you are driving an electric car through the Granite Belt.

Close by with the dogs

Ballandean is a compact wine strip, so a second stop is easy. Golden Grove Estate Wines has shaded gardens and outdoor areas a couple of minutes away, Sunset Hills Estate makes an obvious late-afternoon pairing, and Bent Road Winery & Distillery covers the spirits angle. Check each one's current dog policy before you plan the circuit.
