Yarraville Gardens

Yarraville Gardens is a broad sweep of lawn and old trees in Yarraville, looking out toward the Maribyrnong River. Most of it is an on-lead walk, but the north-east corner has a signed off-lead area.

Leads and the off-lead area

Maribyrnong City Council manages the precinct. Keep your dog on a lead across most of the park.

The off-lead area is Barbara Beyer Reserve, in the north-east corner. Greelish Oval can also be used off lead, but only at set times, so read the signs before you unclip.

Dogs are not allowed inside the playground at all.

Around the gardens

The old gravel paths have mostly been replaced with asphalt, so the loop is smooth underfoot. It takes you past historic trees and monuments, with views toward the river and the industrial heritage of the west.

Max: Greelish Oval is off-lead only at certain times. Check the sign first, every visit.

Make a day of it

The Mona Castle Hotel in Seddon makes an easy stop afterwards.

Good for dogs who like a mix of a smooth lead walk and a run in the off-lead corner. Bring water for the dog.
