Waterhole Creek Reserve runs through Morwell as a green creek corridor, and its west bank holds a signed off-lead strip of about 450 metres, a rare thing in town.
Leads and the off-lead area
Latrobe City Council has set the off-lead area on the west bank, between O'Grady Street and the tree line behind 58 Beattie Crescent.
Outside that stretch, the rest of the trail is on lead, so clip back on when you leave it.
The walk
Paved concrete and compacted gravel paths make an easy, flat network of roughly 2.4 km, about 35 minutes end to end.
You pass remnant creek-side vegetation, birdlife, murals and panels on the Gunaikurnai heritage trail.
Getting started
Street parking works near O'Grady Street, or on Brisbane Street behind the Morwell Traffic School. Bins are near the main access points.
The creek is there, but there are few bubblers, so bring a bottle and bowl. Mature trees give some shade.

It suits all fitness levels, and the off-lead strip is ideal for dogs that need a proper run.
