Crinigan Road Reserve

On the northern edge of Morwell, Crinigan Road Reserve protects around 100 acres of eucalypt bushland, wetlands and dams. It feels a long way from town, and dogs are welcome as long as they stay on a lead.

Leads and wildlife

Latrobe City Council, which manages the reserve with a local committee, requires dogs on lead at all times. The bush is full of birdlife, and locals advise keeping an eye out for wildlife and other dogs.

The walk

A network of tracks winds through lowland forest and grassy woodland, mixing natural dirt, compacted gravel and short timber boardwalks. Benches along the way make it easy to pause.

The tall trees shade most of the tracks. Water and bins are thin on the ground once you leave the entrances, so carry water for the dog and take your bags home.

Max: Keep the lead short near the wetlands and dams. The birds here are the whole point, and a curious nose can flush them fast.

Getting started

The main car park is on Fairway Drive beside the Morwell Golf Course entrance, with an information booth, a map and toilets. You can also walk in from Maryvale Road or Crinigan Road.

Deep shade makes this one of the better summer walks around Morwell, and the varied tracks suit dogs who love a good sniff.
