The Bush Loop

The Bush Loop is a 4.5 km circuit in West Busselton that strings together pockets of native bush, the Vasse Diversion Drain and quiet suburban streets. Dogs are welcome on lead.

Lead rules

The City of Busselton requires dogs on a lead on footpaths, shared paths and general reserves, which covers the whole loop. Cyclists use it too, so keep the lead short.

The walk

Starting near Frederick Street by the light industrial area, the route passes Queen Elizabeth Avenue and College Avenue and follows sections of the drain, where waterbirds gather.

The surface shifts from compacted bush track to concrete and asphalt shared paths and street verges. Street parking near Frederick Street is the easiest place to start.

Water, bins and shade

Pepsi: Bring a bottle and a bowl. Water and bins are thin on the bush and drain sections.

The bush and drain stretches carry natural shade, but the suburban links are more exposed.

The Urban Coffee House in West Busselton is the nearby coffee stop.

When to go

At 4.5 km it is a solid workout without being a slog, which suits a regular morning or afternoon walk for fit dogs. In summer, head out early.
