Albany Lakes Park

The lake path locals walk around the Chancellor Park neighbourhood of Sippy Downs is the loop through Albany Lakes Park, a paved circuit past linked urban lakes and footbridges. Sunshine Coast Council requires dogs on lead at all times on the shared paths.

The walk

The concrete path circles open parkland, playgrounds and a chain of lakes with waterbirds, crossing the water on footbridges. It is smooth enough for a steady jog.

Some trees and park shelters give shade, but parts of the lakeside are fully exposed.

Water, bins and parking

Bins and bag dispensers line the main paths, and there are taps near the neighbouring Chancellor Village Park. Street parking and small parking bays serve the path.

Off lead next door

The fenced dog park at Chancellor Village Park, off Lakehead Drive, has double gates, a shaded shelter and water, so dogs can run after the on-lead lap.

Make a day of it

Sippy Social and Evolution Espresso are both in Sippy Downs for coffee afterwards.

Go early in warmer months, before the exposed lakeside stretches heat up.
