Cobbler Creek Recreation Park

Cobbler Creek Recreation Park spreads across the boundary of Salisbury East and Golden Grove in Adelaide's north-east, and it is one of the few big bush parks up this way where your dog can walk with you, as long as it stays on a lead.

Lead rules

National Parks and Wildlife Service SA manages the park. Dogs must be on a lead no longer than 2 metres and stay on the designated walking trails.

That applies across the whole park, with no off-lead section.

The walk

Tracks are natural earth, dirt and gravel, and some are shared with bikes. You wind through mallee box grassy woodland and along creek lines edged with river red gums, past stone ruins from early European settlement.

Climb to the ridge tops for wide views over the Adelaide plains.

Max: Some tracks are shared with bikes, so keep the lead short where the trail bends and you can't see far ahead.

Getting started

There is free parking at the main car park near the entrance on Bridge and Smith Roads, and another beside the playground. Drinking fountains and dog bowls sit near the main entrance and playground, with bins around the picnic grounds.

Make a day of it

For an off-lead run afterwards, Golden Grove Fenced Dog Park is close by.

When to go

The gullies and main picnic areas carry shade, but the ridge tops and outer trails are fully exposed. In summer, go early and save the high ground for cooler days.
